Love Button On Tour: From Food Banks to Heartfelt Bonds

From the vibrant streets of Toronto to the historic neighborhoods of Boston, the bright-hearted community of Madison, and the rhythm-filled soul of Nashville, the Love Button team continued its journey with Coldplay across North America. Alongside inspiring local organizations, our volunteers gave their time, energy, and hearts to nourish communities and connect with people through love in action.

Here is how we helped create moments of care and connection in the cities we visited this month.

Sharing Food and Fighting Waste in Toronto

Nearly half of all food produced in Canada ends up lost or wasted. That is enough to fill one hundred eighty CN Towers, costs over fifty eight billion dollars, and could feed seventeen million people three meals a day. The number is staggering but so are the efforts of organizations working to solve it.

In Toronto we were honored to join four of those organizations. Daily Bread Food Bank, Second Harvest, North York Harvest Food Bank, and Black Creek Community Farm are all making sure that nutritious food finds its way to people who need it most. Together they serve millions of people every year and help reduce food waste while feeding their communities.

Our team helped with food distribution, preparation, and shared moments of connection with the people behind these powerful missions. The experience reminded us not to take food for granted and to think about ways we can share rather than throw away. To everyone we met in Toronto thank you for welcoming us into your work and your hearts.

Celebrating Community and Connection in Boston

Boston greeted us with open arms and wide hearts. The people of this city radiate care for one another and our time here was filled with gratitude and inspiration.

We started with Haley House which has served the South End for over sixty years. What began as a house of hospitality has grown into a powerful presence in Boston offering permanent housing, urban farming, a soup kitchen, a café, and job training programs. They serve hundreds of people each week and are always looking for new ways to meet the needs of their neighbors.

Next we joined Fresh Truck whose mobile produce markets bring fresh fruits and vegetables to communities where grocery access is limited. With over twenty-three trucks and more than forty options of culturally relevant produce, they are transforming food access across Boston. Thousands of people visit their markets each week and we were honored to lend a hand in keeping their work moving.

Spreading Joy and Nourishment in Madison

There is something truly magical about Madison. From the clear blue skies to the kindness of every person we met in this city felt like home the moment we arrived. That feeling only deepened during our visit to The River Food Pantry.

The River Pantry reflects all the best parts of Madison. They serve over eighteen thousand people each year through their food and mobile pantry services, and their team treats every visitor like family. We joined their mobile pantry to distribute food to more than one hundred people and every interaction was filled with joy generosity and community.

Harvesting in Nashville

Hot, sweaty, fun, stinky, and meaningful. That is how we would describe our incredible day at the McGruder Community Garden with The Nashville Food Project. Located in one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, the McGruder Garden brings fresh food to the community while also cultivating connection and care.

The Nashville Food Project brings people together to grow cook and share nourishing food. Their commitment to building a stronger more food-secure city is seen in everything they do. Our team helped harvest sixty pounds of peaches forty five pounds of pears and more cherry tomatoes than we could count. All of the food grown across their gardens and farms is redistributed directly to local families. That adds up to thirty six thousand pounds of produce every year.

Our time in Toronto, Boston, Madison, and Nashville reminded us that love shows up in many forms.
